Even if it’s raining, please go and vote, America
Me: I’m calling on behalf of the Labour Party to remind you to vote in the local elections today.
Her: I’ll vote alright, but it won’t be for you.
Me: That’s cool, just so long as you vote.
My name’s Sue, I’m a cheese-eating surrender monkey, and I approve this message.

Do you think it will make a huge difference to us on this side of the pond?
Or is it all just rhetoric for the polls, and it will be business as usual after the furore dies down?

Lynne, I think it matters immensely. Economically, for the most obvious effect on most of us: when Wall Street sneezes, the rest of us catch cold. It makes a difference whether we get a US govt that takes an agressive stance against states it disapproves of, or a US govt that sees itself as having responsibility towards smaller, poorer states.
And I tell you where this election has really made a difference for me: it seems like we have a return to politics of conviction, where people stand on a soapbox and talk about what they believe in, rather than trying to craft policies that appeal to the largest number of voters. That’s been the most beautiful and refreshing thing to watch.

Well, I have to thank you and Dan, so much.
You got me interested in politics again, last time was when Blair got in, I so loved that man. And I still think he was the best thing to happen to us at that time, and Obama will be the same for the US.
